A Note From the Assistant Head of School for External Relations
On behalf of the Academy, I want to share a few words that speak to Hebron Academy's current culture, values and mission. Most central to the ethos of our community is to learn about, accept and support each individual for who they are - regardless of what defines them. This cuts across all aspects of diversity without the focus or promotion of one over the other. The school believes that tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. Tolerance is harmony in difference. We view tolerance as a way of thinking and feeling — but most importantly, of acting — that gives us peace in our individuality, respect for those unlike us, the wisdom to discern humane values and the courage to act upon them. This is what we want to accomplish at Hebron around which faculty and young children - our students - will rally.
We, at school, are eager to support alumni who wish to organize themselves around a common interest - to develop alumni organizations or groups through which alumni can associate with each other in a manner that is appropriate for the needs of the group. Regional events, mini reunions, email listserves, web page, blogs - and other ways to engage on the issues most important to the group - are but a few ways by which Hebron's Advancement Office can help organize and involve Hebron alumni in the life of the school and with each other.
